WHAT sadistic so and so designed CJ5\'s ?

For some reason - my shop is suddenly lousey with CJ5's
There's about 5 of 'em here and all of them with full cages.

I am not giant, but at close to 6' and 250# (40# of that is gut)and a lot closer to 50 than I am to 30 (not so limber as I once was)- getting in and out of those -ing caged CJ5's is like being the understudy for a contortionist with hemmoriods.

Right about now I'd even be greatful to have a YJ come in - square headlights and all.

Note: This was meant as a semi-humorus rant. No CJ5's were harmed in the posting of it.

Gee, I don't remember having any problem getting in and out of my '5. Aren't they the same as a '7 except for behind the seats?

Of course, mine didn't have a cage. And I was 40 years younger. And 50 pounds lighter.

I don't have any problem with my 5, but I'm 6foot2 and weigh 185 soaking wet...but I'm like a rail. Leg room is fine for me, but my cage is bent out at the bottom to give those few extra inches of room.

Re: WHAT sadistic so and so designed CJ5\'s ?

I have been riding in CJ5's since 1972. A couple of years ago I got to drive a YJ. I fell out the door getting out forgetting there was no hump to rest you behind on in the door opening like in my '5. It was rather embarrassing.

I still drive my '5 daily and 5' 15" tall around 220 lbs.

I am feeling the same way, but because I am almost as round as I am tall.

Course I am streching the wheelbase, so i think that will aford me some room to cut into the wheel wells.
