Anybody use off road lights?

I see some guys with 6 of those 150 watt KC Daylighters mounted on their Jeeps and I wonder why they need them. I considered putting 2 on my front bumper, but wondered if I would ever use them. Most of the wheeling I do is during the day, and I don't really need to see 4 miles down the road when it is dark. Does anybody use their off road lights?

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

I've got 2 tractor lights mounted where the original fog lights were. I aim them down to just in front of the Jeep...fills the gap between the bumper and the headlights...also works a bit like a rock light when night wheelin' lets me see what is just infront of the Jeep.

If your not first in line on a night run and you burn all those lights...some one's gonna get hurt...

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

I have never done a night run, but use mine a lot at night on rural roads. Makes spotting deer much easier from a further distance. I wouldn't buy a set for this use, but since the PO had installed them I do use them.

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

What about mounting driving lights low and as far apart as you can to reduce the illusion of being farther away than you are to other drivers. I've noticed some newer Jeeps with extra lights mounted on the ends of the front bumper?

I've experience cars pulling out in front of me and being "startled" that I was that close to them. Do the lights bein farther apart help with that?

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

I run 4 overhead on 2 on the front bumper, also have 1 front, middle, and back under the body pointing down.

we do lots of noight runs here and I also am part of the Spook Rally on Halloween that sets up the night rallies for the big Halloween weekend run.

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

i dont have any extra lights cuz i dont need them....i would LOVE to do night runs..... i'm hoping to organize a run later in summer at rockport....the lady that co-owns the place said we could work out night runs if we came in a big group like for the bash.....im sure they wouldnt mind if it was a big group but not a bash type event....just going to ask nicely and hope for the best

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

Why not a bash type event? Night runs can be fun...even if you are doing hard stuff...It's when you get to doing the stupid stuff (Marine02, Aaron871, JeepGod style) that makes it a long night...

Re: Anybody use off road lights?

I use mine. But mostly for what upalittle said. Country driving at night. We have deer EVERYWHERE around here and hits are very high. So I can't get enough light.
(they need to let us more to drop the population)
