child locks

don't know if you guys can help... you seem like a bright lot... I have a '95 ford exlporer that has child safety locks on it... the issue is that they don't work... do any of you know how to reslove the issue... before I take a sawsall to the stupid things [img]images/graemlins/wall.gif[/img]

When you say that they do not work, how don't they work? Do you mean that children can still open the door from the inside, or do you mean that nobody can open the door at all?

Every system I've ever seen has a little lever around the lock mechanism/striker somewhere that switches it from child proof to not.

when I say that they don't work I mean that they will not open from the inside at all...which can get uncomfortable for a grown man who weighs over 200 lbs....I've messed w/ them ad nauseum and still nothing... [img]images/graemlins/wall.gif[/img]

yeah, see that's the thing... it IS in the off position ... has been since I bought the thing about 6 or 7 months ago... I have adults in the back seat almost asmuch as I have my 2 kids in the back seat soooooooooooo... I would like to fix them....
