Rear Axle Alignment

anyone have pointers on adjusting the rear axle ?

I'm in the planning phase of my suspension design and once i swap in the control arms theres gonna be some adjustment needed.

isince its adjustable on each of the control arms.....are there good points on the frame from which to measure? I have ideas on just kinda going at it and measuring from random points and hoping for the best, But if anyone has pointers it'd be appreciated.

I REALLY doubt i'll have it by the bash, but who knows.

thanks ahead of time

Re: Rear Axle Alignment

Come on greg,, put that enginering to work!!!!

Find a point on each side of th frame that is the same. then triangulate. That is how I do it. How did you put your 8.8 in without doing that???

as far as adjustment do you mean pinion angle, front to back , or left to right? Control arms can take care of everything but left to right which the trackbar controls!!!!

Get with it youngun!!!!!!

Re: Rear Axle Alignment

well DUH!

i know i can just measure and go from there...thats what i said in my first post...give me some credit!

what i was looking for was past expirience so that i could go about it faster and with less messing around.

since yur here...you interested in the ford 8.8 i have now (might need a new bearings) ? I'm prolly gonna stick with an 8.8 but i figure there no sense i cutting up this one with the TJ mounts on it. I'm going to make custom suspension points....except for coil pads...those i'll keep the same type.....so i'll have an 8.8 set up for you already when i swap it in, if you are interested...prolly be next winter since i wont have my garage till march 25th, it wouldnt get done before the summer wheeling season.

i'm actually gonna do away with the track bar and have the upper arms both go centered on the axle above the pumpkin, so that should take care of the centering. but that will also be adjustable......i have a plan!

i really think the alignment part is gonna be the biggest pain in the butt

Greg, olives are not accurate when used for that type measurement. Not even the jalapeņo stuffed ones.

oh (*dissapointed*)

but they're so good

but seriously...this will be the flexiest 2-3 " suspension you've ever seen..... i should have the RE springs and shocks on by the bash, so im just going to keep those until i can make the jeep bigger....these long arms should grow with the jeep wich is a lot more than i can say for the stock arms!

now i want olives.....
