MC2100 install on Jeep 258 question

I need more datailed info about this install. I have a CJ7 258 automatic with the Carter carb. I am in the process of changing to the MC2100 but I'm having trouble finding the right one. When I look up info on the AMC 304 there is a different part number for each year. How do I know which one is right? Also, one comes with a "compensator" valve. Do I need this?
I am using the "MC2100 install on a Jeep" by Tim Martin as my guide to do this. Is this detailed enough for me to use or is there more info I need. Are the parts that are listed everything?
Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks, David

Re: MC2100 install on Jeep 258 question

I don't know about the compensator valve. I would guess emmissions might have something to do with it. As far as the rest of it, just be sure to get one with the small 1.08 stamped on the side. With automatic tranny you'll have an added obsticle trying to get kickdown hooked up. Tim's article worked best for me.... and asking questions here.
I found that the Mr. Gasket adapter worked well. Better hardware from what I hear.

The compensator valve is for altitude compensation. Technically, that is a 2150 carb, not a 2100. The 2100 does not have that valve.
