Anyone had trouble with leaking on new Supertops?

My friend Richard bought a brand new Supertop for his CJ5 and says it leaks bad over the doors. He says the flap over the door is not long enough to shed the water off before it pours in behind the rubber on the top of the door. My Supertop is a few years old and has never leaked like that. Just wondering if Bestop has change the top enough to make it leak??? He says the doors are very tight against the top but it still leaks. He is not happy about it for what it cost. (soft doors)

Re: Anyone had trouble with leaking on new Superto

I think the CJ5's still use the old stlye bows and such. Those i believe did leak. I also seem to remember a post on here about getting them to stop leaking and someone making a chang to the hardware to stop the leak. Try a search, it had to be last winter sometime.

My top for my 7 doesnt leak anywhere, well just one spot, where the friendly neighborhood mouse ate a hole.

Re: Anyone had trouble with leaking on new Superto

My top had a couple of small holes dead center on the top. I bought some Bestop recomended Bondex iron on patches and they worked great. I looked everywhere for them and found them at wally world, should have known! I get a lot more water leaking from the windshield on my feet than I ever got from the top!

I know the feeling. My body stays dryer with just a bikini top, then my feet ever do.

Yeah, the 5's have the old style bows etc. Mine doesn't leak water though, air....yes. All in all it's a pretty good top for a 31 y.o. Jeep. My top has been on there for probably 6 years (if you believe the PO.

Yeah mine leaked from the doors. Don't use the Supertop door stops., Use the original with a little modification.
Makes a nice tight fit.

I bought mine about 2 years ago. And if you don't get dead center in the winshild water will run down the inside of the door a fill the map pockets with water what a pain in the winter.
