Re: identify this axle quickly

Ford also used a leaf spring Dana 44 in 1/2 ton extended cab 4x4's. I am not sure what years though. I am running one (full width from a 78 or 79) in my YJ. There is also a "heavy duty" version that the housing appears to be the same (but is supposed to have thicker tubes) that has 8 lugs. Not sure of all involved, but it is possible to swap to and from 5 lug and 8 lug.

Re: identify this axle quickly

The easiest way to tell is look on the webbing from the center section, it will say right on it 44 or 60.

all the 3/4 ton 78-79 are the HD version, along with those year f150 extended cabs. the housing itself and shafts are the exact same. different from the knuckles out.
they all run 1/2" tubes and are .5" wider than the regular coil sprung half ton ones.
