Need your opinion

I have the opportunity to aquire a '53 Willy's for about $500 It has been sitting in the guys back yard for a few years. I think it still runs, but the battery is dead. I haven't seen it yet, but wanted to get an idea if it even worth the effort to go check it out. Don't really know to much about the Willy's "Jeeps", what they may be worth and availibility of part
Any comments?

Re: Need your opinion

3a and 3b would have a serial # between 10001 and 37551 for 53

CJ 5 didn't start production till '55

Re: Need your opinion

I'd sure take the time to check it out. I saw an old flatty on the side of the road a while back for $500. It looked like it had rolled down the Grand Canyon and then had the hell beat out of it with a BFH. No drive train at all. Pityful looking old jeep for the money. I'm sure we'd all like more info on the jeep and maybe a pic or two. Good luck!
