amc 360 swap info(flywheel, balancer)

Im being told that to swap the 360 into my CJ, that I need a 360 (only) manual flywheel (not a 304) and I have to swap out the harmonic balancer.

Ive never heard that I had to do either of these. Just want to be sure about this

i dont know about the harmonic balancer, but you do need the 360 flywheel. The 304, and 360 are balanced differently. Dont ask how i know this. LOL

You can use the balancer that is on the 360 with auto, but do not use the 304 balancer. You need both the 360 balancer and flywheel (I found that Krage jeepdoc.com has the best price on the fw - mine was $102 to my door).

Re: amc 360 swap info(flywheel, balancer)

I have a 360/T18. I bought my flywheel and all my other parts from Jeepdoc.com. Great service and no problems. Been a year now runs like a champ and it was 118.00 to the door but I am in Cali. Partmike in Sacramento charges 140.00 for the same exact part looked at it myself when I bought the T-18 from him. They all buy there parts from OMIX-ADA.

Re: amc 360 swap info(flywheel, balancer)

by balancer.. they are talking about that big heavy block of steel that is attached to the front of your crank... that you can leave on the 360... and yes.. you need a flywheel for a 360 also... just get one from any 1970's waggoneer... advance auto... or pep boys.. will have it also...

Re: amc 360 swap info(flywheel, balancer)

Flywheel is on its way from Jeepdoc.com.

Can I use the same clutch and PP from the 258 for the 360?

You can, the 258, 304, 360 and 401 all share the same bellhousing and clutch bolt patterns. Or you can go to the aftermarket types like Center Force to add a bit more.
