novak or advance adaptors, which is better?

im posting this question for a friend (wbcarver) that has a hard time gettin to this bbs from work.....hope you guys can help him

Question:

Want to adapt NP435 to Dana300 for use in a CJ7

Both Novak and Advance Adaptors, make adapters for this swap. They are within a few dollars of each on the price. Anybody have input on which one is better - and why?

Thanks,

Bill

Re: novak or advance adaptors, which is better?

Too many times I've had to re-machine, move holes slightly, shim or machine down the thickness of Advance adapters. If you do use them, double/triple check all dimensions. They seem to be a bit sloppy on accuracy. Their bellhousing trans adapters usually require offset pins - they have trouble getting the big hole in the center.
Novak seems to be better - everything went on the first time with no problem, but they don't make as many combinations as Advance, so sometimes you are stuck.

No experience with AA. But I've been nothing but impressed with my Novak adapter, and the service that came with it.

I used Novak, after hearing more of the same thing, like Rich says. Eric Novak was really helpful with any questions I had.

I will Jump on the novak boat. Over the last few months I have gotten a lot of parts from them, and they are always very helpfull. The customer service is second to none, and the parts they provide are top notch.

Re: novak or advance adaptors, which is better?

I've always heard the same thing about Novak being better than AA, but I just got this adapter awhile back. I got the AA one, but I got it from NoExcusses in New Jersey. Saved about 100 bucks over AA price, and I had no trouble with the parts or the install. You or your friend do know that you will most lickly need to disassemble the trans, and replace the main shaft in the NP435. Its not hard to do, but a good shop manual with diagrams is a must. Good Luck.

Re: novak or advance adaptors, which is better?

I used the Novak to mate my SM465 to the 300 case in my Srambler! Like everyone else has said, their service can not be beat.. I don't know about the tranny you are going to use but they had a kit for mine that let me change the the t-case input instead of the tranny tail shaft. The service guy did say that the tranny tail shaft would be stronger but when you consider the weight of the jeep the 10 spline would hold up just fine. Only took about 15 min. to change the t-case input!

Go with Novak ... They sell a better quality product and have excellent customer service.
