TH400 rebuild

Just scored a TH400 and Quadra-trac XFER on ebay. I can now rebuild them without taking the CJ out of comission.

I saw on a previous post from LEVE that a good book for the rebuild is the
General Motors Automatic Transmission Overhaul Manual (Techbook Series).

For anyone who has this book, will this cover the AMC TH400?

Thanks.

The ONLY differences between the GM TH400 and the AMC TH400 is the bellhousing bolt pattern is different and the output shaft length and spline count. Everything else is identical.

I did something similar to you. I had a spare transmission when mine started slipping. I had it rebuilt rather than tackeling it myself. It only cost me $250 including a new torque converter. I really like the way it shifts now too.
