How long in front wheel drive only???

How far would you drive your rig w/o the rear driveline attached?

I think my 2-piece axle went out this morning, and it will take a few days to get a 1-piece kit delivered. Plus, I would have to drive 100 miles to my dad's shop to put it on, or else pay someone here to do it.

How far would you go w/ a front wheel drive CJ? I've driven in front-only before, but only to get home from the trail...

Re: How long in front wheel drive only???

As long as you are in Front Hi and on pavement, drive as long as you want. I have run for weeks at a time in Front Hi with no ill effect. Just to be extra cautious, I kept my speed at 55 and under (but I only go about 65 in rear wheel drive anyway).

The onlything you have to remember is that the front components may not be quite a beefy as the rear, so no horsing it around.
