O.T. ?? for our Service Men and Women overseas.

The Las Cruces Four Wheel Drive Club would like to donate some money to an organization that supports our Service Men and Women overseas. Any suggestions as to what would get the most bang for the buck?

1. Phone Cards,
2. So they can call home.... or,
3. Scopes for their rifles,
4. So you can save their lives,
5. And they can come home....
6. Alive...

Not to usurp Leve's ideas, they are both very good, but as for an organization, the USO does a lot for sevicemembers, especially those deployed. It goes beyond just the entertainment. Here is a link to their site: http://www.uso.org/pubs/8_14_19.cfm

Re: O.T. ?? for our Service Men and Women overseas.

Well, being that I'm out here in the sand box, I think little things like baby wipes and just care packages with cheap food stuff are good things.

I do know theres a Marine out here I was chatting with (on the BB)
I think the hardest thing is deciding (and figuring out) where to send stuff. We usualy get care pacages and will shoot an email to the Squadron to let people know to come get stuff.
It's the little things that are nice to see, just little touches of home.

AND I will let ya'll know that it is GREATLY APPRICIATED

We need ninja stars, swords and bananas. I think that should do it. Seriously, can you get your 4wd club to donate me a new rear axle, cause mine is sitting at home leaking all over the street. Jon mark, if you see this....thanks for everything!! I almost forgot, capri suns are great too. Also, some cervezas! Re: O.T. ?? for our Service Men and Women overseas.

When I was over there last year, the most popular thing was sunglasses or goggles. Something to keep the sun and sand out of your eyes. I know that everyone brought some sunglasses and goggles, but getting them replaced when they got broken or lost was another story. The goggles that we used were sky diving goggles. They didn't let sand in and they were more comfortable than the issued goggles. Also t-shirts, socks and skivy drawers were very popular items. For the females over there, the female hygene products were a very popular item. All I can say is that those military personnel over there appreciate anything that you send. They may not convey it physically, but deep in there heart, they really do appreciate it. As far as what organization to donate too, the USO is a good one, but for the Marines, Marine Corps Community Services takes care of alot of the their recreation items. Your best bet would be to contact your nearest base and talk to them. From one retired Jarhead, I thank you for your support.
