Update on my hub swapping!!!!

Well for those that didn't see or here about my hub situation , here it is... I broke the five bolt louckout on my 82 cj8 and had a hard time finding another..
I found a link that said you can use a 6 bolt hub from a 71-80, even the drumb brake D30"S.
I got one side done and so far it works. Heres a parts list for anyone that might want to do this.

6 bolt hub from 71-80.
spindle from the my 82.
wheel bearings from 82.
hub seal from 82.
lockout from my 74
wheel studs from 82.

You have to use the wheel studs for the rotor because they have a longer shank to go through the rotor and press into the hub!!!
I tried to use the spindle from the 74 but it allows the rotor to recess back and rub on the caliper bracket. I'll take pics while I do the other side!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Update on my hub swapping!!!!

Took it down the creek in the back yard yesterday and it seemed to work good. Im going to do the other side today!! It's an easy swap once you know what parts to use. As much as I hate to say this, The wife is getting good at driving her jeep!!!! I drove the FJ40 down the creek and she followed and made it trough some rough spots with ease!!! Im thinking she just had a good spotter and a driver in front of her to take the right lines...LOL...
I took some pics but have to get them developed since the digital is not working yet!! It's a cool little creek to run because it changes after every heavy rain!!!

While the drum hubs will bolt up, I have found the back side of the drum hub is not machined for the rotor to mount flat/square. A decent machine shop should be able to take care of that.

I'm not sure if that is always the case but it was on a couple I did.
