Seen that before Larry. Looks like awesome stuff. I wouldn't want to have to pay for it, but I bet the military won't see a problem with it.

Re: Perhaps a new fabric for a Jeep Soft Top?

I knew I should have followed through on that. I had a similar idea 30 or so years ago, weaving cloth out of fiber optics. It would pick up the image from the back, project it to the front and make the object it covered appear to be invisible.

The problem was that the every thread had to end exactly in line behind where it began. It would have been pretty easy, but expensive, to do something stationary like a window but glass was already available for that and the image wouldn't change as the viewer moved from side to side. The image would be similar to watching a closed circuit camera on a television.

It could have cloaked an object to the casual viewer. With a lot more strands it could have been made 3-dimensional, providing a proper image from any viewing angle. Still, every end had to be kept in perfect alignment with the corresponding end on the back side so any movement in the cloak would produce a distorted image.

I've contemplated the idea several times over the last several years but have never come up with a solution to the distortion problem and of course the expense.

Leve, for some reason the link doesn't show up on my browser but, using my super powers, I found the URL by doing an edit on your post.

Anyway, neat stuff. Buck Rogers would have loved it.
