Re: O/T 4X4suppot.com

That looks like a great idea, so I registered. I've yet to take any cross country wheeling trips, mostly for fear of breaking something and having to deal with getting back home/parts/tools/etc. If it can make a trip a little more comforting, for me or others, by having some contacts, then I'm all for it. Unfortunately all I have to offer is a winch and tools/wrenching help, but hey, sometimes that's all a person needs. Oh yeah, I did say a wheeling/drinking buddy too, so if any of you are coming to or passing through KC, I've always got a cold one!

This reminds me of the Alaska-to-Georgia run that the two guys made with the Postal Jeep a year or so ago. There was literally a dot-to-dot string of repair facilities across the US and Canada ready to receive them should they need work done.

That would be Eric ' Big Walton' and his brother... Here's his website detailing the trek: http://home.earthlink.net/~bigwalton/postal.html

He (and his Postal) were right behind us last fall during my off-road Jeepin'/trail ride debut. Great guy! and good friend.

Now THERE is a mechanical risk-taker for ya...

Those kinds of risky ventures prepare you for A LOT of situations later on where improvisation, ingenuity, and determination could actually save your life. Case in point.....the space shot where they had to improvise an air scrubber out of "stuff" on hand to mfg oxygen.
