Th350 Shifter

What does everyone here have for thier auto-trans shifter?

I'm about to head to the parts store and order the cheapest one they have, but it's a MegaShifter ($150 CDN)

Seeems a bit pricey to me considering the tranny was only $75.

Anyone got something they found for cheaper? Is it possible to make one?

TIA guys.

Pull a floor shifter out of any 3 speed car in the junk yard. A friend of mine used a Ford escort's shifter in his Bronco.

Re: Th350 Shifter

Well, $150 CDN was a mis-quote

Its at $300 CDN now.. and $200 for the ghetto one.

So, I propose to build my own.

For $200 I can build it how i like it, and not have to give ALL my hard earned money to either of the un-helpfull parts places who were very eager to order it for me, even though they couldn't tell me what fluid to put in my D300.

On a side note, and rant:

I went into 2 parts stores with a list a page long. About 35 items, and over $500 cash in my pocket, and I came out with muffler clamps.

YES.. $2.39 worth of MUFFLER CLAMPS.

They were both so unhelpfull.. and so disorganised, I think I'm going to make my cat start paying for his own food.. I'm sure he can get a job there.

[/rant]

So anyone got anything for me to keep in mind when I build myself this shifter?

I'm with Will... No need to move your hand off the wheel to shift and no clunky shifter to clutter up the floor!

Auto colum from an auto yj, junk yard, or order one from summit, might not hurt to have it shipped to some one in the states then shipped over the boarder as a gift.

We are using the B&M Light Truck Megashifter and we have it built into a custom center console that also has a built-in heater to heat the floor of the SNOJEEP.

Re: Th350 Shifter

Ya the megashifter is the $300 deal.

I was originally quoted $150.. and didn't like that.
Should have taken it before they double checked the price.

Re: Th350 Shifter

On another note.

Tranny cooler lines? Can they just be hoseclamped? I looked at the B&M catalogue, and it showed soft hoses hoseclamped to the cooler.

I was under the impression they were high pressure lines? (like Fuel Injection lines)

AND...

Shifter cables. Are they anything special? Or can the same thing be achieved by any properly sized aircraft cable inside a jacket/sleeve?
