Easy use yj tops? Rock gear?

The top on my parents yj is pretty much shot and it's a major pain to put up and down. I've found www.rockgearinc.com they seem to have a nice top that would be a ton easier to put up and take down than the current factory soft top. Anybody actually use one or have some thoughts on them?

if you read their site: carefully. you'll notice that they don't use a door seal. they say to pull the top over the upper edge of the door.

not a big deal if you live in a dry climate.

I've been thinking about pick that top up but I wish they had pictures of the rear support they sell with the early YJ and CJ tops.

Re: Easy use yj tops? Rock gear?

I'm very happy with my Rock Gear top. In safari top mode, it doesn't flap at highway speeds like a regular bikini/safari top. Yes, you do have to pull the top over the doors when it rains. However, this also cuts down on high speed flapping, especially if you have soft upper doors.

I didn't realize how good the Rock Gear top was until I drove my friends YJ. His bestop bikini top flaps so much at highway speed, the noise was incredible. Same for his soft doors. I took him for a ride in my rig with the Rock Gear top and he ordered one that day.

Re: Easy use yj tops? Rock gear?

Andy,

I just ordered a Rock Gear top this morning. I spoke with Mike at Rock Gear, he said it should be at my door in about three weeks or so. If you want to check it out before you buy one, let me know. Are you living in Antigo now for the summer? If so, I'll be in Lakewood the weekend of July 24th for our club campout, your welcome to swing over and join in on the 'wheeling. We'll be covering the McCaslin Mountain area, and most likely parts of the Pipeline! Bring the YJ and a tent! Rick
