Caged!

After 3 years wanting...and waiting....and more wanting...and MORE waiting, the opportunity presented itself. A local guy and I just finished project "Caged Moss" Part 1...

Part 2 will include some gusseting/triangulation, door bars & crossbars for the seats to mount on. Part 3 will include the entire rear section.

The plates are 1/4" (top & bottom) with 1/2" Grade 8s (should be tied into the frame by next week), the tube is 1.75"x.125 wall HREW (all the seams are turned to the interior), was welded with a Millermatic 175amp (220V) MIG, and should be rattle-canned in my favorite shade of cheap paint by next weekend . Since it was a first for us both (he's pretty dang good, but had only done bumpers/rails prior to this), I'm sure there are things we did wrong, but think the main "safety bases" are covered. It was fabbed to fit snugly inside the hardtop (sucked putting it on!!!) which it does perfectly, however unlikely I'll put the hardtop back on EVER. All in all, I'm very happy with it (*MY* head won't touch it anywhere ), it's super sturdy, and exactly what I wanted in the front half.

Comments or Critiques?

Re: Caged!

I like how you bent the top bars down at the rear just before they hit the roll hoop, gives just a bit more head room. Very nice.

Re: Caged!

Why does Caver having a cage scare me so much?

Looks good. Hope you don't have to use it.
