1. Do you know how many
In reply to:

old winch

[/ QUOTE ] there are?
2. How about a manufacture and model number?
3. It would narrow down things a lot!

Re: I need a diagram!!!!!!

1. That doesn't seem like a Braden Model Number,
2. Perhaps a serial number.
3. I'd start Here...
4. There may be something close.
5. Can you post a picture of it?

Playing Devil's advocate here (that's what I do best).

voit = volt (It's OK most here read typo).

Isn't it simply one connection for ground and a connection for forward and one for reverse? Would hope that they are marked on the case in some way.

Makes it rather simple (unless I'm passing over the obvious agian), but you will need a couple of relays and some serious cables to connect everything up.

Here's an after thought... are you missing a control box that goes with the winch??

Well that should be enough from me to get LEVE to fill in more detail than I could ever provide.

Teasing LEVE.... Please take the complement.

Good Luck,

Dale

Re: I need a diagram!!!!!!

It shouldn't be a big deal no matter who the manufacturer is. Since you have the 3 posts, it will have wound fields rather than permanent magnets and it should be series wound. There is one more connection, to ground.

You didn't mention any markings on the posts, so I'll assume there aren't any. Find the post that reads continuity to ground. Mark it A1, it should be an armature lead. Mark the other posts F1 and F2, it doesn't make any difference which is which. Connect A1 to F1, F2 to 12v and touch the case to ground. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CABLE FED OUT IN CASE IT TRIES TO REEL IT IN. To reverse it, disconnect everything and connect A1 to F2, F1 to 12v and touch the case to ground. It should run the opposite way.

If it ran properly, just get a Warn diagram and use it to make the connections. Even if we confused the field and armature, it doesn't make a difference being a series motor.

Re: I need a diagram!!!!!!

I just hate when these threads end... like this... with no resolution... or none that we know of.

Please follow up. What did you do?? Even if it was give up and toss it in the dumpster.... TELL US !

OK so I'm just crazy... that's fine... but you can't leave a crazy old man hanging... he might just do something... something crazy.
