towing cj

hi there

i need to move my cj7 8 blocks. what's the best way to do this? by the way...the jeep doesn't run

now what's the best way to do this with no trailer and no tow bar or anything like that?

can i just use a tow strap? my brakes will still work right...just no power assist....same with steering right?

thanks

Re: towing cj

Well you have no trailer tow bar tow truck and need to move 8 blocks, are those city blocks residential blocks, traffic is the concern..

Yes you can use a tow strap if you have a competent co driver to either tow you or be towed by you. You will need to make sure the Jeep does most of the braking to stop when needed.

Before you start make a few hand signal codes with each other so you can communicate for your turns stopping and slowing.

Re: towing cj

hi there

yep, residential area.

as far as the competant thing...ahh, no...i'm no where near it...but i'll go early i the morning...

so anyway...i should still be able to steer right? i've got the key to "unlock" the steering...just won't be power steering right?

would i want to use the e-brake for braking or should i use the regular brakes...what would work best on a non running vehicle?

thanks
patrick

Right.

Regular brakes.

Also, it would be a good idea to run the tow strap through a length of stong pipe so that the vehicles can't hit easily.
