Seeing how dust and dirt does not mix well with turbine vanes, i would say that a turbocharger may not be a reliable choice for off road applications, also, by the time you are done spending money on parts, you could have done a 4.0L swap....

yeah, a turbo will do little for your low end, either.

There is a company out there somewhere that makes a super charger kit for the 2.5L and the 4.0L. But I agree that by the time you are done buying all those parts you could have put a 4.0 AX-15 in.

As everyone said above, not good for off road unless you are mud racing (in Az?)or sand running, but here goes.
Find an old dodge 600 or Chrysler Le Baron. Pull the turbo.
Have a header built to include the turbo mount and plumb it into the intake. Bottom end, if in good shape now, should be fine with 6-8 psi. You may need a chip upgrade to allow the extra fuel delivery required.
Good luck and post pics.

PS Or find a wrecked 4.0 and swap it in. You would end up with about the same power as the turbo charged 2.5.

Re: 1995 2.5L like to make it turbo charge

"Charging" the later model jeep engines isn't easy to get right. As our good friend dorfs has pointed out ..the later models use cam overlap to take the place of EGR and leaves engough spent combustion material in the combustion chamber to cool it. The SC tends to frustrate this process, blowing it out the exhaust ...and fooling the 02 sensor ...which sends the wrong pulse width to the injectors. A turbo would probably do better, since the added back pressure may help contain this process. It would also be easier if an EGR manifold was used and to fit the engine with the cam designed for it. You have to use an adjustable MAP sensor...but I still don't know why they design them the way that they do. They merely add more voltage to the output. I would think that one that was indexed over the same OEM voltage that read both vacuum and boost would be ideal (one that compressed that "range" in the same voltage span). Closed loop operation would not be altered and open loop operations would be handled by the adaptive cells. The PCM would just sense too many lean or rich condtions and adjust the injector pulse width accordingly as it does for new/larger .......old clogged injectors.

Sure you can do a 4.0 for about the same ..and probably get more out of it .........but what's fun about that? Anyone can do that.

Here's a guy that appears to have done all the proper research ..he went a bit farther than I would have. I would want this thing to last. Turbo SE
