M 20 makes clunk noise out on driver\'s hub???

I have a m 20 rear end and the last few times I drove it I heard a clunk when I went frontwards or backwards,I grabed the tire and rolled the jeep to the front and back and it clunked out by the end of the axle. Did I brake something,or what,It did not make noise when driveing. Could it be a brake.

well it's tough to say from a "clunk" description, but do you still have the stock two pece axles? or do you have any sort of traction device in the Diff. have you checked your U-bolts to be tight, How's the U-joint.

does it clunk once or several times going forward... going backward... in a turn?

Jack it up and give 'er a spin. Really the only way to tell is taking the tire off and really listening. Could be a host of things from hub loose, bearing going out (ooh that was nasty when mine blew) low on diff fluid, brake spring gone, etc. Pull the drum and take a peek at the brakes while you are at it. Let us know what you find.

I did use the brake as a cheap posi for my first time out with the big motor and the big tires. I will check the oil and the brake, and the u bolts ,to see what is wrong thanks.
