Saw a tracBar that made me think...

Went to our local clubs M&G yesterday. A guy showed up witha pretty built trailer rig. BIG OLE ZUKI! Lots of interesting things done to it. but what caught my eye was the traction bars on the rear axle:

One over each spring like thus:

The red lines indicate the trac bar parts.

One over each spring.

Yep thats an anti wrap bar my son has them on his Sammy, they been around out here like that for a while now. If you have good spring perches they will work pretty good. Not recomended for a lot of power though. Seen some perches pulled right off the axle housing.

It was a cruzer? that explains a lot! like why the guy was so impressed with telling me about his centered rear axle ..... Still don't see why he took an FJ40 offset axle, cut it, got new axle shafts and built a centered diff toyota axle.... they did make toyoata axles from the factory that were centerd...

Oh well, I guess I didn't look at that closely at the only body panels left on it.. the grill and the hood..

I guess it's time to post a link to this again. Single bar doesn't do much.

I was contemplating using these on my wrangler but as I did more investigating I found they are better suited to trailer queens and show trucks. They don't have the ability to compensate for the spring changing length and the axle moving slightly rearward as the suspension cycles. On the street where the biggest bumps are curbs and speed bumps, they are fine.

The link provided by Will is very good. It is very important to understand that puting the traction bars on the spring just puts more stress on the axle tubes. It's the pumpkin that is trying to rotate up....hence, you want to limit it's ability to rotate. This will put a lot less stres on the axle tubes.

I'm in the process of building a single bar system for my SOA lift. I used the above link as a primary resource.
