Ideas Needed

I got a few minutes this week to work on the 2A. The engine seems locked, so I have it soaking in oil. #2 plug had the plug resistor flattened. and the entire drive train is locked up. I am gonna pull the head tomorow. I can push in the clutch and really has no effect, It is like something is bound up and the flattened plugh concerns me. Any sugestions??? I just want to get the t case and tranny shifting. If the motor is bad no big deal.

Re: Ideas Needed

1. Are the right plugs in the engine?
2. Has the timing jumped?
3. That's not an interference fit engine.
4. With depressing the clutch,
5. Can you get ANY movement of the engine:[*]CCW[*]CW
6. I think pulling the head will be wise,
7. You may want to think about pulling the pan,
8. And looking at the rods and crank,
9. You may want to use PB-Blaster,
10. Or an other Panther Piss product,
11. To attempt to free the engine,
12. The follow up with Motor oil.
13. In for a dime, in for a dollar.

Re: Ideas Needed

Can't say as for the Plugs being right,, Have it soaking in as much blaster as I could spray in the plug holes. And the engine will not budge cw or ccw. See what it looks like when I pull the head. I just hope the drive train is not messed up.. That is the part I need.

Re: Ideas Needed

Longshot here, but I'm assuming that it sat for some time. A buddy of mine recently discovered that mice had taken do storing food and building a home in his bellhousing over the winter. The housing was packed so full of dog food and other crap that when he did push the clutch pedal, it ruined the pressure plate and he couldn't move the CJ. Like I said.. longshot. Re: Ideas Needed

Jdogg is right and I have seen it many times. Also I would be willing to bet that the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel from sitting.
Also pull the cover off the tranny and look inside. When things set forever you never know what you'll find.

Re: Ideas Needed

after pulling the head I think you guys may be on to something.. The front two cyl look like they quit running yesterday. The rear cylinders look the same but had some rust that resembles what you get on mainfolds. You know almost a dull orange rust. There is some in the valvs, but the shaft on the ones that are pushed looks fine.

I ennded up getting called into work today and cannot work on it anymore till tomorow... WOW I had the head off in 10 minuts....... Easy as pie.

The bore of the carb looks like it was rebuilt last week, and I am basicly thrilled but it still will not turn over....

Aren't flat heads nice? I had to pull one of my heads a couple weeks ago on the 360 and it was an all day project to pull it apart and put it back together.
