SBC 350 Oil Pressure Ports?

1 Attachment(s)
I just set the V8 in the CJ and am gettng some things cleaned up. I wanted to set the oil pressure sender in the port on the top rear of the engine, but the body of the sender is to large and contacts the manifold. Here is the one I wanted to use.

I saw this one on the block just above the oil filter. Would this work?

There is a pressure relieve spring in there for the oil system. Use a small extention on the port in the frist pic. Or better yet, use a mech pressure gauge and connect the copper tube to that port.

Thanks Wayne!

Care to walk me through a distributor install also?

My feeble memory tells me that there is also an oil port in the front of the block, probably at the end of the main gallery. I think it's just down from the thermostat housing and toward the passenger side. But it's been 35 years since I've messed with a SBC so it might not be there on newer blocks.

Or I could be all wet.

Concur with W.C. about the extension. It's a $.10 brass fitting from Autozone. Looks like you have the same Edlebrock intake I do so here's a pic...you can kinda see it.

Re: SBC 350 Oil Pressure Ports?

The sender for my oil pressure gauge is pretty big. I opted to 90* it out to clear the distributor. Not the prettiest solution...but it'll do.

Now lets change the subject to water temp senders.

I can see three choices where I can put it.
1. In the manifold, the only available spot is right under the tstat housing. so clearance is an issue.
2. Waterpump housing, my spot of choice.
3. in the head between the spark plugs. I stuck a 3/8 extension into this one and it is in good and tight.

Any problem with running the temp straight from the water pump?

Craig
