CB installation on 04 TJ

I'm getting ready to install my CB in the new Jeep and wanted to make this install look clean and kinda professional. I was wondering where to splice into the wiring to get the power I need. Can I just go into the fuse panel to pick up my hot wires? Anyone have any pics of their CB install? Thanks in advance!

Use fuse taps into the "hot" side of the fuses in the block. By "hot" side, I mean pull the fuse and test the pins. Use the side that DOES NOT run through the fuse.
Fuse taps should be available at any auto parts store.
They make them for mini ato and standard blade fuses. I am not sure what the TJ uses.
Constant power can usually run to the "dome light" fuse, switched to the radio fuse. That way, if something goes wrong and you blow both fuses, nothing is affected that will keep you from making it home.

Here is where I put mine. I attatched it to the sound bar and removed the dome light. Its worked great so far. I used the roll bar covers to hide most of the wires and for the power I just spliced into my stereo wiring. I put an inline fuse in my power wire.

That's a nice set up but the new sound bars don't go the whole way across the roll bar anymore...they put two separate speaker housings and a thin connection that is rolled into the roll bar padding. I'm thinking I should mount it close to the centrer console underneath the passenger side. I'm working on it now, I should have something figured out by night fall

I am going to use the fuse box connectors for the wiring though.

Do a search on the net for TJ CB install, there's many write ups out there, you'll find plenty.

Re: CB installation on 04 TJ

Well I got it in...I put on the center console by the 4WD lever, down near the right leg. I have plenty of room for the go pedal and it's easy to reach the knobs.

I did find out that they make cool little devices that basically give you an extra circuit without splicing any wires. It plugs into the fuse box and has two spots for the two fuses (one for the original and one for the new circuit) and runs a female plug off of it. I plugged it in and put the CB leads to it and had power in 2 minutes. I like instant gratification!
