name this part

I need some help, please. I just replaced the exhaust pipe (aka head pipe) on my 1985 CJ7. During this process, I noticed that the pipe that comes off the exhaust pipe also has a major rusted out hole in it. I suspect this to be the source of the stink I have been smelling. The question is what the heck is this pipe called? Again, let me explain. This pipe comes off the exhaust pipe, that attaches to the manifold. The pipe then bends under the engine and comes up on the other side into some valve. The valve is then hosed into the air filter. Please name this pipe. I am trying to locate either a new or used one which would be a lot easier if I knew what the name of the pipe is. Thanks

1. Fill out your profile,
2. Knowing which engine would be nice!
3. Is the part in this diagram?

Thanks for the pictures, that was great. Sorry, I forget that mine is not the only jeep. It has a 258 engine. I would say number 14 is the part I am looking for. I have been spending most of my time looking at this part from the underside so it looks a bit different up top.

1. It woun't be easy to find,
2. But it should be easily duplicated,
3. And installed.

Sounds like you are talking about the EGR tube - "Exhaust Gas Recirculation".

The one on my old 258 didn't route under the engine, it just came off the header as a quick elbow to the EGR valve that sat right beneath the intake manifold. But I can't imagine too many other things that come off the exhaust, go through a valve, and route to the intake.

I stand corrected.

Glad I never had to deal with one of those.

Yeah, me neither. Here's my exhaust manifold. (Other is similar) No more air injection system. Still have the manifolds, though, sold the diverter valve and pump.
