float setting MC 2100 ?

Anyone know a float setting for the MC2100 ? Some directions say to set it with the top off , which kind of worries me. The directions have different settings for different applications. The carb came off a ford van.

Mine came off a van too. If I remember right the instructions with the kit actually had you measure fuel level to adjust the float. From the bottom of the bowl. I did this, then went a little lower (in an attempt to make it run good at an angle). I'll check the paperwork when I get home in the AM.

Re: float setting MC 2100 ?

Three people, three differnt ways. I used to have a 2100 on a Grand Waggie. And when I set the float I fliped the carb upside down and measured the distance from the top of the float to the top of the bowl. From memory I think the measurment was just a shade over 1/8". And then I added just the little. But my Waggie was a mostly street truck. so I wasn't too concerned with tilting. A good trick is to lower the float to keep the carb running at angle.

I was able to run the 4.2 with the top off of the 2100 and I rember setting the float to 1/8" below level (Float level, not the top of the bowl)

Re: float setting MC 2100 ?

I've had mine set below (3/16"?) what the book said (1/8"?) to cut down on slush offroad. Still runs dang great at weird angles. Unfortunately, I start choking before the engine does!

Re: float setting MC 2100 ?

after an engine fire a while back, fuel leak, giving me pause, and
Aside from running an open carb over a warm engine . I still can't picture in my mind how to bend the float tang to adjust it while leaning over a hot engine.
I will have to pull out all my stuff and refresh my memory. I got sidetracked on other projects.
Thanks all
