Re: VIN question

No, your VIN number does not directly give you axle info. But, you probably could have your local Jeep dealer look up your VIN in their database and should have detailed records on your Jeep including axles. A dealer once looked up an old wrangler I was thinking of buying and was able to tell me what it came out of the factory with for equipment.

This web page explains what the coding in your VIN stands for. It only goes up to YJ's but I'm sure the TJ is similar.

Re: VIN question

Or you can just crawl under the Jeep and look at them...then go here and play, "This looks just like what's under my Jeep"

No need for the vin#.

Re: VIN question

VIN = Vehicle Identification Number

It is VIN, not VIN number.

Re: VIN question

i was trying to be nice. i told this dealer that i want a tj sport with a d44. so he said that maybe i should think about a sahara instead. i tried to explain that it was an option on both models. he responded that he has been selling jeeps for 18 years and has never heard of such a thing......

interesting, don't you think?
