Whats the best 1 in hole saw bit?

Allright fellows, Im starting the lift this week but I need a 1 in hole saw bit. Im going to be installing the RE 5.5 LA and if you didnt already know you have to drill (10) 1 in holes in the frame, so im going to need a pretty good bit. I could go out and by these little cheap ones but from what I hear if I do that I will be breaking them left and right. So I need to know where and what brand can I find a good bit for the best price.

Blu-Mol or Lennox, sometimes you can find them at sLowes or HomeDespot, look for a plumbing or HVAC supply house near you if the home centers don't have them...go ahead and get 2 or 3. even the good ones will dull out pretty quick on the frame.

Keep them cool! either use compressed air blowing on them constantly or use lot's and lot's of cutting oil. A true cutting oil wull work better than 10W30.

Use a good 1/2 inch drill as slow as you can run it, keeps the heat down...

I don't envy you this job.

lomoyj is 100% correct.
They best way to ruin a bit is to abuse it. I used to be a field employee at a plumbing company, We used to drill holes in all kind of things. to run pipes.
Use a good cutting oil, and keep the bit cool it will last about 10 times longer for you. And only drill as fast as the bit can cut. Don't rush it, you will just dull the bit.
If you have a second drill and a buddy working with you, you may want to send him around in front of you to drill small holes first. So yours don't wander all over the place before it starts to cut.

I used a Lennox brand that I got from Lowe's,...only used two of them for all the holes. Don't forget, you'll also need a 5/8ths bit too,...read all those directions and get everything you need up front.

First off you need a drill that goes SLOW . But other than that I only buy Milwaukee brand ones. But just my $.02. (only ones I have ever had last for me)

If you are only going to 1" then try a Unibit. They are a stepped bit that come in different sizes and step increments. A little more money than a hole saw, but much more versatile and precise.

Re: Whats the best 1 in hole saw bit?

Well since this backa$$words place does not have a Lowes I went to Home Depot and went with the Blu-Mol brand. I bought 3 of them and some cutting oil just in case. I should have everything I need, well at least everything I think I need. Im sure there is going to be something that Im not expecting. It always happens, but Im just going to take my time, and Hopefully I will be finished by Sunday. Wish me luck and Im sure I will be on here quite frequently asking questions and advice
