O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

Heres a quick brain teaser for you...

How many words can you make that use the letters ABCDEF without repeating any letters or leaving any letters out?

You have to use all six letters in the word.

Re: O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

I cheated and threw it into an anagram creator:

Deaf bc
Fade bc
Abc fed
Cab fed
Cad feb
Feb cd a
Feb dc a
Fed bc a

Am I missing something?

Re: O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

if by "Word" you mean : # A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes.

then i would have to think of music using the notes ABCDEF. and by definition it would work since music can "sybolize and communicate meaning"

and so I'd agree with taz with the answer of 6-factorial assuming we are limited to only one key....many times that many "words" if we are allowed to use more than one key

did i take all the fun out of the puzzle yet????

so thats a long way of me saying that no i cant find any single english words that use all six letters and dont repeat...but maybe im missing sometinhg??

Re: O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

I know the trick to the riddle, just can't think of any words off hand. You can use ANY letter in the alphabet, but you have to use all six of those, and can't repeat any them. Right? I'd spend a little more time to think of one, but i've been on this puter all night and it's time for a Miller.

Re: O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

I assumed the word had to be 6 letters long. But it only states you have to use all of them, not you can ONLY use these letters.

So the word is atleast 6 letters long.

or am I missin something?

Re: O/T ABCDEF Brain Teaser

Taz is right... found out from the person who was trying to solve the riddle that she told me the wrong info. It was how many combinations of letters ABCDEF can you make without repeating them.

6! = 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 720 = how many combinations.

Taz wins the prize... if there was one...
