Cheapest Fiberglass Hoods

Whats the cheapest fiberglass hood you guys have run across these days?
Without my stacks of Jeep "bolt-on" magazines, to perouse for pricing I have no idea who has the best prices.

I just need a no frills, "cheap as they come" fiberglass YJ hood.

Its nearly comp season, so its time for me to make my Junk all purty.

Thanks,

Re: Cheapest Fiberglass Hoods

have you ever tried working with fiberglass? it is pretty simple. i used to do it when i was into the car audio scene.

you could use your hood for a mold, so it would come out as an easy bolt on.

boat supply stores have tons of fiberglass materials and could help you out a lot.

Re: Cheapest Fiberglass Hoods

Yeah, I have worked with fiberglass surfboards, both building and repairing.
But I am just looking for a quick one time shot, to tie me over until my Lexan hoods are complete.

I seem to recall Jeep essentials, or one of the Jeep wish books having a fiberglass hood for at or below $200.

There are a lot of things that I would rather spend my limited competition budget on, than a new hood,..so the cheaper the better.

$345
JC Whitney $180

www.4wd.com $230

Best I could find off hand. Don't know about the quality though.

Re: Cheapest Fiberglass Hoods

If you are just using it as a stop gap until you get something else you would probably be better with steel hood. I have a fiberglass hood on my cj, and it sure doesn't like touching the rocks. It is supposed to be one of the better ones (what ever that means) and not cheap at $400+. Lots of guys running them around here and they get banged or cracked up pretty quick. At least the steel ones can be banged back into shape a few times.

ahhhh Lexan. That is definetely the way to go.
