O/T Rock Crawler Rebuild

Took a ride out to Attica Indiana, Badlands Machine Shop with a friend to see how his rock crawler rig was coming along. New D60 axles are under with the links in place, still needs the coil over mounts installed. Roll cage nearly complete. He took measurements for new drive shafts and other details. It's coming along but not quite ready to crawl.

If you would like to see more here are a couple of links.

Re: O/T Rock Crawler Rebuild

It looks good but the front bumper sticks out too far.
It doesnt make much sense to run front links and give up the better than 90* angle of approach, advantage that is achievable.
Todays courses demand such steep approaches to vertical walls that without a better than 90* angle of approach, you are forced to come in at an angle, almost always resulting in taking a cone.

Looks good though,
What kind of hood is he running?

Re: O/T Rock Crawler Rebuild

After taking a closer look at the hood I can see it is a crooozer hood.

Re: O/T Rock Crawler Rebuild

Yep is was a Toyota Land Crusier in a previous life. The protrusion in the front is what's left of the original frame. There are some other clearance issues with the front axle (because it's so much bigger than the originals) and there may be additional changes.
