cj-5 dana 44 fit?

finaly getting back to working on my jeep. I'm in the process of buying a dana 44 axle housing with gears but no axles, brakes etc..It is new old stock ,for a 1973 cj-5 according to the part numbers on it.My question is, is it a direct bolt in to my 81 cj-5 or do spring perches etc.. have to be moved, also can the brakes from my corp. 20 be swapped over or do I need to track them down also. I also need axles, any reccomendations???? thanks in advance, you guys have helped me tremendously so far. gman

Email "commandtoad" over on the Jeepster board. He's got tons of old narrowtrac stuff (axles, bake parts, etc.).

Toad's email = [email protected]

From what I've seen, all the narrowtrac's shared the same perch widths. The CJs have a wider frame than the Commandos (but the Commando springs are outboarded in the rear ). The only thing I could see that might be different is the spring pad width. The early CJs used those skinny (1.5" wide?) springs and the later models used 2.5" wide. IMHO, the little bit of perch width isn't worth fiddling with (and consequently...no big deal).
