Tacoma or TJ?

Ive had my 99 Tacoma for a while now and its tome for something else. I am really considering a TJ. It would definatly be a 6cyl Sahara but im not completly sure what to look for (I know a d44 rear end). It will be a daily driver and would probably get a set of 35's under it. I will still be keeping my CJ7. What would you do? Keep the Tacoma or get a TJ?

Get a Rubicon. Aren't they within $1000 or so from a Sahara?

Re: Tacoma or TJ?

Do you wheel your cj at all? If you do anything more than forest roads i'd say get atleast a 1/2 ton truck and trailer instead of a tacoma or a tj. I wouldn't trust towing a jeep with either of them, also having a daily driver that you can and do wheel isn't the best idea in my book, granted i do wheel my daily driver on occasion but it's on 235 mall terrains and not 35" muds and the "trails" i take it on are usually forest roads. I'm a huge fan of being able to tow my jeep to and from the trail. It makes life so much easier.

Re: Tacoma or TJ?

well, since you are looking for a change I would say go with the Rubicon.

Personally since you already have a jeep I would think the cargo area of the tacoma would be nice or even a cherokee or a full size truck.

It's hard to live without a truck once you've had one. I know I couldn't.

Re: Tacoma or TJ?

Good point - if you already have a Jeep to wheel - a truck would be nice to pick up parts with if needed. Pretty tough to put diff's in the back of a brand new Jeep.

Re: Tacoma or TJ?

Keep the Tacoma, take the money you'd spend on the sahara and lavish the CJ with some nice gifts...
I think you'll miss the truck as soon as you get rid of it...

Re: Tacoma or TJ?

Not to really get you off topic, but how about option C. Ever thought of a Dodge pickup? I only mention it because a friend of mine got a '02 Ram 1500, and he was always a nissan/toyota pick up guy.

For the price of a Sahara you could get a really nice 1500. For what it's worth.

Now, if it was really between a TJ and a Tacoma. This is difficult since I really like my TJ, but I'd have to agree that you may really miss having the truck.

If you don't think you'll miss the truck, get the TJ.

But, if you like the truck take a look at the Ram.
