Silly things you do when you get a raise

So I go and test drive a Dodge Quad Cab Hemi 1500 series, with all the bell and whistles.

The salesman gave me the keys, and off I went, laughing like a school boy. Left a 30 feet of posi rubber off the line, something that doesn't happen in the TJ. Very impressed, very big, and very expensive. With the TJ trade in (paying off my current loan), the lease to own option was around $430 a month.

The girlfriend likes the Jeep better, something about being closer to me than in the Hemi's cab. Can't afford it anyway, but its nice to say Hemi.

Re: Silly things you do when you get a raise

When I went to pick up my bone stock, stipped model dodge (I purchased teh night before, but had to come back with written POI) A new salesman snagged me right away and steered me to the big red hemi powered 2nd morgtage sitting in the lot. I played interested, got to rip on it (reasonably so, he rode with me and told me to open it up and see what it would do...) Then he asks "So what type of financing are looking into to??" I said, "None, I bought that old '97 last night, I am here to pick up...."

Test drive ended rather fast...

They are cool though huh!

Re: Silly things you do when you get a raise

please don't fall for the "lease to own option"... Your leasing and if you want to own it or expect to do that you should never lease it first... Only lease if you fully plan on leasing and turning it in!

Re: Silly things you do when you get a raise

The nice thing about a lease is you get to make all those payments, then pay them a nice chunk at the end because you guessed wrong about the value and you drove it too much. But they make sure you aren't burdened with having it clutter up your yard - they take it away.

Then you can do it all over again with another lease, because you don't have something to trade in as a down payment.

Sure is nice of those guys to help you out.

Re: Silly things you do when you get a raise

a good friend of mine leased a cavalier here for 3 years...at the end, he was given the standard option of buying it out...he passed on that...3 weeks later, he sees the car he just turned in for sale on the lot, for $1500 LESS than the lease buyout, and with 4 brand new tires (still hairy), and fully cleaned/tuned up...

1. Damn fool that I am,
2. I leased once,
3. In the fist year rolled the Van off a mountain,
4. And did $10,000 damage.
5. When the lease was up 3 years later,
6. They asked me if I wanted to buy it...
7. I replied "Why? It's been rolled down a mountain!"
8. Walked away and bought a FSJ Wagoneer.
9. Ye Haw.... best decision I'd made in years!
10. IMHO... from experience,
11. A lease sucks...
13. Unless someone else is paying the bill!

Well, if you're inclined to keep the Jeep, but have some money to spend and like the dodge hemi, the AEV hemi swap might be just the ticket for you!

OK TJcacher, now you really got me laughing. Hemi powered Jeep!!! With my foot I would need Peterbilt driveshafts, and a good PBA card. Let me check the bank account, see if I have the 18K.
