Re: Could i make it

How many miles are we talking about, What is the shape of the vehicle. is it a daily driver or spends equal time on the purgatory trail at attica..

If you are talking a blanket answer then I would say that the tj and yj have there own plusses and minuses, as do the 4 and 6 cyl engines... I am not sure I am understanding your question but I will say hands down if you are buying one get the 6 cyl. I have the 4 and am not impressed on the road.

Welcome, Fill out your profile and read the newbie post... No offense just hard to post if ya do no know th rules..

Driving it? You may need to stop at least once.

Re: Could i make it

I drove my I6 YJ between Co. and Ga. a few times. Even pulled a U-Haul behind it once and had the inside full. It was in stock form (still is) and I had no probs. Be prepared, my mileage on the road trip went WAY down. Had to stop about every 250 miles. Could get expensive if you do it often.

Re: Could i make it

I see no reason why it won't if it's in good mechanical condition.
Any aehicle can fail at any time, new or otherwise. All you can do is have it prepaired as best as possible. And all of this goes for anything on the road.

Wow, I only get about 110-120 miles to a tank.

78 cj-5 cross country (RI to CA to MD to CA - 3 times in all) with 258, 3 speed, no stereo and 33's with no problems except the wipers going out in a deluge in Iowa. buy a jerry can or two, there are a couple of long stretches out there with little gas

Re: Could i make it

I would second the Jerry can Idea. I don't trust my gas guage at All. And it is better to have a fall back. Jeep gas guages are pretty famous for leaving you stranded..
