A good couple of weeks for me,,,,,,,,,

Well, last week I was sit here reading the BB's and I hear my neighbor's truck slowly come up the hill and stopping on the road near my house. I look out the window and he is checking the towbar that he is using to pull a little flat fender. I yell out to him, asking if he is going to be fixing it up to go 'wheeling with me,,,,,,,,,and he says he needs to get rid of it and he's taking it to the dump. He found it inside an old barn that had fallen down around it while he was bulldozing some land, the land owner didn't want it and neighbor had too many projects already. So, it's now in my yard
It's a 1946 CJ2A in great condition, the rear of the tub is not original but I can get two more 'flattys" for parts (also for free) that have good rear tub sections and titles. It will be a fun project.

Re: A good couple of weeks for me,,,,,,,,,

So, I scored the flatty last week,,,,,,,,,,then sunday I was talking to a guy that said he had some rear axles that he pulled out of some old stretch limos'. Said that they looked really big for a car axle. We went to look at them, I had to really try hard to be cool and not show my excitement. He had 4 rear Dana 60s, 1.5"dia / 35 spline shafts with 5 lug wheel pattern. These are perfect for CJ axle swaps,,,,,Got a killer deal

One axle will be narrowed with Ford 'Big Bearing' ends for the CJ2A, and another is going in my 'vette. With two extras for a couple guys in my club.

WOW! Better run out and buy a lottery ticket. One will be enough!

Nice wheels on the flattie
But isn't a 60 overkill on a flattie?

I also have a TPI 350 SBC out of a '88 IROC Camaro that will must likely be powering the flatty,,,,,,,,,,,so a 60 seems appropriate.

The rear of that tub sure looks like it came from a DJ3b (The original flat-fender postal jeep!)
