4.2 rebuild

I have an 87 YJ 4.2 that needs work. I also have a '75 258 engine I would like to build just to make the swap. Does anyone know of any problems I might run into between the two blocks?

Re: 4.2 rebuild

heads are a little different, flywheel is heavier on the 75, other than that its the same motor, when you're doing the rebuild think about doing the 4.0 head swap too, good improvement and during a rebuild is probably the best time to do it.

btw the heavier flywheel is good

Re: 4.2 rebuild

Head swap is in the plans. Also possibly different cam. I just didn't want to waste time and money on the older block if it wasn't going to fit. Thanks.
