T-18 torque bracket?

Edited:
I'm mid stream on my T150 to T18A swap. I'm about to put it back together and have questions about the torque bracket. Do I need to install it or can I just use the PN#2693 mount and skip the torque bracket?

Re: T-18 torque bracket?

On my '78 it was a flat piece of stock that stuck off to the right about 5". Out there was a shoulder bolt with rubber bushings connecting it to the skid plate. There was so much slack in the bushings that it looked useless. I tossed it 20 years ago and never put it back. And have not seen any ill effects from its absence.

Re: T-18 torque bracket?

I have to disagree w/ Jim on this one.
It's my experience that a T-18 will break that mount without hesitation if you flex hard (Mbalbritton has had a similar experience if I recall correctly). The torque arm mount seems to have extended the life quite a bit for me, though I don't understand why.
Good luck.

Re: T-18 torque bracket?

Yep, I used to go through tranny mounts like toilet paper until I put the flat piece of stock back on with new bushings to keep it from rolling over.

Re: T-18 torque bracket?

Yep, broke two tranny mounts and one engine mount

Then I put the torque brkt back in ... so far so good. Sure doesn't look like it would make much difference but it appears some engineer know what he was doing.
