Dana 300 Tailshaft Help Needed

I'm trying to score a 1980 Dana 300 off of Ebay, because I need the short tailshaft. The problem is that it's difficult for me to tell whether I'm looking at an early or a late 300. Is there a dead giveaway that the T/C that I'm looking at is the short tailshaft version? Or does anybody know where I can see GOOD pictures to at least compare one to the other? Thanks!

A good way to tell them apart when they are not next to each other is to look at where the speedo gear is. On the early versions it is very close to the housing, up on a flange where the material is more thick.
The later versions have the speedo gear pretty much in the middle of the output housing.
