O/T Anyone planning on seeing the UP Challenger?

Just curious if anyone is planning on looking at the Challenger as it makes it's trip from Wyoming to the Superbowl in Houston. It will be stopping overnight on it's return trip at Little Rock and I'll be there for sure. I might follow it part way to Fort Smith too. I've seen it the last 2 times it's been through here and it is a treat to see.

Not my picture.

I believe it's one of the largest and most powerful locomotives ever made, with the "Big Boy" being the largest. I have a picture of myself standing in front of Big Boy at age 6. It was massive then, and massive now.

Will that is AWESOME. I love trains. Make sure to get plenty of pics if you would. I'd love to see them.

Re: O/T Anyone planning on seeing the UP Challenger?

Do we have some rail fans and/or model railroaders on the board?

I probably wouldnít be too interested in steam, but if it came close enough, I might be interested. Whatís the route? Hope itís not running over any ex-Rock Island track, it wouldnít make it. We had enough trouble with SD40-2s and U30Cs.

I have a friend that claims that there are cab forwards that were larger that the Big-Boys.

Now, if one of these ever runs again, Iím there.

Yup, see the picture below of my parent's basement. DCC has made the wiring so simple and the opperation so much better.

In my first post I posted a link of the schedule and the route map. It is going back through Kansas City so it will be close to you.

Re: O/T Anyone planning on seeing the UP Challenger?

Doh, missed those links under the picture.

Looks like it already came through here once. I donít know how I missed that. Iím in KC on the Kansas side about two miles north of the tracks from KC to Topeka. Some nights I can hear the coal trains even in the winter with the windows closed.

Iíll try to remember to catch it on the way back. Looks like itís going to be at Union Station for a full day +.

Link to some streamliners.
