Broke bad this weekend also, pay up time! :)
Well not that bad, really. I was climbing out of a steep gully, steep uphill, deep ruts, big roots on one side, big rocks on another. Three feet up in air and landed on said rocks... a few times. First bent then ripped of traction bar which resulted in axle wrap which resulted in u-joint pulling apart which resulted in broken ears on driveshaft yoke. All this freaked out my Ford 8.8 rear and it cracked all it's welds I put on around the driver side tube. Tube didn't spin though and it's straight! Oh well, I'll put more heat to it this time.
Oh, and did I mention that while trying to winch out of this quagmire the winch (X9 borrowed from friend) started to throw nice big arcs over to the grill and a selenoid and part of the internal bracketry melted and finally gave up the ghost? Like they say: "burn it up like you borrowed it". By the way it's amazing what the front D30r can put up with!
The sad part is that all this happened on my first competition run. If only Tom Woods and Superwinch would deliver into the woods... We had fun though. Somebody who obviously didn't have to drive them set the courses up. The ba$$tard!
I think I've learned something from all this ... but can't remember right now.
