Swamper tire types

The 35" tires I have on my CJ-7 will soon have to be replaced... So naturally I have began to shop around and noticed this in an advertisment "-Available in popular flotation and LT sizes."
Q: What is the difference in flotation and LT sizes???

Re: Swamper tire types

I am not 100% sure but here is what I think!

Floatation sizes are what you have now: 35X12.50, 30X9.50, etc. LT or light truck is usually in metric sizes: 235/75, 315/85, etc.

Does that make sense?

Re: Swamper tire types

Not sure of all the differences, but, LT are usually stiffer sidewalls, rated for higher load at smaller sizes and they are sized by conventional height and aspect ratios. In cross section, they have very straight sides. Flotation or Balloon tires are usually listed by designation dia x width x wheel size. The sidewalls are designed to flex and are typically more round in cross section, the sidewalls tend to bulge more.

Thanks for the replies.
Common sence, therfore, tells me I want the floation tire for mudding and sugar-sand. (tire buldges more-larger foot print)
