Re: different color tractor paint???

I want to make a set of flat fenders, and I (meaning my bro) have some welding to do on door sill and after that is done, want to paint, maybe a different color. Problem is I don't really like the tractor colors I see.

Re: different color tractor paint???

my advice is go to your local paint shop. ask for the cheaper stuff like duponts nason and have them mix the color you want. should be able to get it for about the same money.

Is it durable? I don't want to paint all the time.

Re: different color tractor paint???

its better paint than the implement paint. the implement is just a cheap grade enamel paint. not much more durable than a spray can paint. add hardener and spray.

Farm tractor and implement paint has rust inhibitors in it. It is extremely durable. I've painted over all kinds of rusty parts never to have the rust come back. I do use a little hardener with it. I have a JD Yellow jeep and a Ford Blue jeep.

Re: different color tractor paint???

My CJ5 is Ford Blue with a white hardtop, equipment paint from Car Quest. It dries slow, but has been a good paint thus far (It's a year old). It thins with naptha, and is very forgiving, just takes FOREVER to dry. Scratches polish out fairly easily (I rarely bother) and deep scratches can be touched up with a small bristle brush rather than having to mix the paint up and break out the airgun. Colors I've seen at Car Quest are: Ford Tractor Blue, White, Farmall Red, Black, John Deere Green and Yellow. I got it for $25 a gallon--here in Alaska! When I get ready to paint the CJ7, my daughter has already requested red, so it's going to be a Farmall Red CJ7, and if I can find some in Tan (may just use some 5-ball) I'm going to paint the hardtop and doors that. Maybe for fun I'll do the raised portion of the hood in either tan or black as well. Anyhow, that's my .02!

Don't forget commercial lawn mower paint. It's very durable and easy to use.
