If it is to take the place of the long dead FC or to replace the liberty, I don't see anything wrong with it. Just don't take the wrangler in that direction. I still can't believe they replaced the cherokee with the liberty. That wasn't a step forward. Smaller and lower.

1. Things change.
2. That's a fact of life,
3. It was shown in Japan,
4. The Japanese can be just plain goofy at times...
5. And this is one of them,
6. But, as a Jeeper I want to see new research,
7. And anything that will help keep Jeep alive and well,
8. So in 50 years my Great-Grand Children can take 'em apart,
9. Re-engineer 'em, re-design 'em and wheel 'em (if they still have wheels!).
10. This is where technology stretches the envelope,
11. And where the consumers give thumbs up,
12. Or thumbs down.
14. I'm just glad Jeep's spending the funds.
15. Now if we could only get them back to being American owned.

That thing has no business bearing the jeep name.
Can you imagine showing up to a mud bogging compition in a shiny new electric golf cart and a jeep sticker on it?!?

I think a mini cooper and plymoth prowler got a little frisky and produced this little "mistake"

Im hoping that I never see one of these in this country, in my lifetime, with that grill, and that name. DIS-grace.

What's the problem? It was good enough for NASA. That ain't nothing but the moon buggy with an enclosed passenger compartment. Just think of the flex you could get if you removed the fenders and reattached them to the axles.

Re: New Jeep concept thing or whatever it is...

I wouldn't worry. Most "concept" cars are just that, a concept, and never get made into production. Especially from across the ocean at the Tokyo show. I'd only worry if it came to the annual Detroit show, and failed to bear the name "concept."

The next jeep available to the public will look nothing like that, I assure you.

Re: New Jeep concept thing or whatever it is...

I agree its ugly as sin, but I like to see progress. I think we all know that no vehicle even remotely close to that will be in production any time soon.....but the technology in it may. I doubt I'd ever give up my V-8 for an electric Jeep, but I bet those motors can put some major torque down. And Jeep is realizing people like big tires so they are using them. They are even playing with the idea of fuel cells and advanced powertrains. Now that just sounds cool to me.
