Many jeep questions please help

Been a while since i posted on here i have a whole list of questions ive got to ask.
Is cj8 really the title that the scramblers have? there is a girl in town with one and she swears it is a cj7 scrambler. her Registration even says cj7 on it and so does the owmers manual?
I want have plans to to a spring over with Scout axles and a shackle reversel. i also want to move my front axle forward to make room for more rearward travel and also for added stability. How far forward should i put my axle? how much more forward should i make my bumper as i want to weld the spring hangers off of that? I know that to swap scout frount axles in you haft to move the spring hangers out away from the frame. and i am building a heavy duty bumper to suport the hangers.

Any help would be apreciated thanks!

Re: Many jeep questions please help

I'll answer what I know.

All CJ-8's are known as Scramblers. If it truly is a CJ-8 and not a stretched CJ-7 then the title is wrong. There's a possibility when someone was filling out the paperwork for a new title they wrote a 7 instead of 8. I know a guy here in town who swears his CJ-5 is a CJ-7 but I know better. The owners manual is probly one that covers all CJ's made in that year and is not specific to one or the other since both vehicles are nearly identical in every aspect other than looks.

Moving the front axle forward is going to be limited by the steering gear. The rear moving rearward is limited by the gas tank. Move the steering gear and gas tank and you can move the axles as far as you want.
