d44 housing then what?

Quick question from a newbie. I have a dana 35 in my TJ now with 35 inch tires. Im starting to get into rock crawling and everybody says i need a dana 44. If i bought just a d44 housing off of a wrangler how much would i have to invest to complete it. Im not sure of all the parts needed. I plan on using a arb locker. Thanks for all the help.

Re: d44 housing then what?

well i just picked up a D44 from a 87' XJ....the axle was $250 from the junk yard, $450 to get TJ brackets welded on and XJ brackets cut off......$320 for 4.56 R&P, master install kit and spool. ive still got to replace the old stuff on the drum brakes so im guessing it will cost a lil'over $1100 to finish it off .
if your going arb then the cost will be higher.....arb about $600+/-, air comp. $150+/- for the set up.
im getting a buddy to install the R&P for beer and pizza but the usuall cost is $250 per axle.......so if your swaping gears and all your looking at around $2200 +/- for the whole deal. hope this helps.

o yea fill out your bio specs. so people can help you
