Homebrew Hand Throttle - CJ w/MC2100

Well after asking a few questions.....a run to Autozone, the local bike store, and Ace Hardware I now have both my hand throttle and manual choke mounted on my shifter. I pulled the shifter off of my moms old 10 speed bike that had been in our garage for years. I know the owner of the one and only local bike store and he hooked me up with the cables and sheathing. At autozone I got a cable stop clamp, and at Ace I got a spring.

First thing I did was mount everything up how I wanted it to run. I guided the cables along the top side of the tranny and one to either side of the engine. I cut off what I didn't need and hooked everything up. My old manual choke was a push/pull kinda design and because this new setup doesn't put any pressure on the cable when I'm opening the choke I had to use a spring to help out. Springs are expensive little things!! Check out the photo's to see how I hooked it all up.

That's the way to do it! You'll like the levers right where they are on the shifter lever, too.

It's one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do.

You'll like it Nick. Even more when you find all the new uses for it. I know I couldn't live without it.(too many toys on the engine )

Re: Homebrew Hand Throttle - CJ w/MC2100

I've already been playing with it as cruise control. I'm trying to conjure up a way to turn it into a cruise that will turn off when brakes are applied. But only when you want it to turn off with brakes applied. Obviously if you were at a stop and just trying to run the engine and holding the brake that wouldn't work so well. So maybe a switched pressure switch which runs off brake fluid pressure and when brakes are applied it releases the cable. It all makes sense in my head (NOT).....lol.

Thanks for the comments.
